White's club is a bar located on St. James's Street in London. It has been active for more than a century and was a frequent venue for gambling for the aristocrats of the time.

Description[]

The building has a pale stone facade with black cast-iron lamps set before the door. It has Greek columns, arched frames, high windows and a cast-iron balcony that bears an intricate swirling pattern. Inside, it is lit by wax candles and has a chandelier and a ceiling designed to look like the inside of a vast stone barrel. On the right side of the room are green baize covered tables where men usually clustered and played cards.

History[]

The club was established in London by an Italian and had since become the haunt of criminals and aristocrats alike for their gambling habits.

Magnus Bane, during one of his visits to London, joined White's on a bet by his friend, Catarina Loss. Years later, around the time of the First Accords, he met the Shadowhunter Edmund Herondale by the London Institute. Magnus and Edmund visited White's where both of them conversed over drinks. They were then joined by Alvanley who offered them more drinks. Edmund almost immediately got absorbed in a card game, and Magnus found himself concerned about Edmund's excitement about gambling. In the end, Magnus grew bored and coaxed Edmund out of White's for a walk.[1]
