The one thing I found lacking in TMI was there were no likeable fae characters. That series showed us the worst of the Fae which in all fairness there is alot. However I'm really hoping The Dark Artificies changes that and gives the series a likeable fae character. The faeries are proud and with the new accords they are broken, I'm really hoping this series will provide more insight on them and hopefully by the end of this series the accords will be changed because without the faeries in the fold there will not be lasting peace.
We've already seen Mark who is kind of a toss up do you consider him a fae which he is half the time or a shadowhunter. He seems to go back in forth throughout the book with demeanor so I'm not sure I would consider him truly a fae character. However Kieran seems by all accounts a character that will stick around. While some of his action were questionable he really does love Mark and we'll definitely see him again. Kieran in the beginning of the book seemed like just another fae character we'd all end up thinking was an asshole but it was a nice surprise when we started to learn more of his character. When he came back after the whipping the first thing I thought was yes his character is going to have a redemption arc. While Mark will probably not forgive him for a while I don't see Kieran giving up on him. I'm really looking forward to Kieran's character development in the next books.
