Known information[]

  • Magnus and Alec are the main characters, with POVs from both.[4]
  • This installment is currently set during The Wicked Powers[5] and thus will not be released until after at least The Last King of Faerie (which won't be until at least 2025).[6]
  • The dynamic of Alec's new job as Consul of the Clave-in-Exile and the time he has for his family will be touched on, as well as something that will affect the family as a whole.[7]

Trivia[]

  • The Black Volume was initially set to be the second book in the series before Cassandra Clare decided to switch the order of the installment titles.[2]
  • Similar to its companion books in the same series, The Black Volume of the Dead is named after a powerful spell book
  • The book was originally going to take place after The Dark Artifices and before The Wicked Powers.[8]
