A suggenes is a term used to refer to the person at a Shadowhunter wedding who walks the bride or groom along the aisle to their betrothed welcomes the latter to the former's family,[1] similar to the tradition of "giving away" the bride to the groom in mundane ceremonies.

Typically, a suggenes is someone they consider to be a close and significant person in their life, and is almost always one's parabatai if they have one.[2] It is not necessary, or sometimes not possible, to have a suggenes.
