Senhor Monteverde is a Shadowhunter who runs the Lisbon Institute alongside his wife. The two of them speak a mixture of Portuguese and English.

In September 2007, the Monteverdes were in Alicante when Valentine Morgenstern threatened to destroy them. While neither he nor his wife wanted to surrender to him, they were more afraid of Downworlders, arguing that they could not be trusted.[1]
