Richard was a musical mundane who was adopted, or taken, by faeries. He had a brief fling with warlock Magnus Bane which only lasted twenty minutes.
In 2007, Richard and a group of other faeries went to an Ethiopian and Italian fusion restaurant run by Downworlders, wherein Magnus was on his first date with Alec Lightwood. When he saw them, he threw wine at Magnus's face and warned Alec that Magnus would break his heart and enchant years of love and life from him, as was done to him. When Magnus pointed out that it lasted only minutes, Richard told him that time passed by differently for him, as he was already "of faerie".[1]
