Why, the High Warlock of Brooklyn, just dropping in for a chat? Usually I'm intent on business, but with you, business would be a pleasure.

–Peng Fang to Magnus, The Red Scrolls of Magic

Peng Fang is the first (and probably only) blood sommelier in the world. He was based at the Paris Shadow Market but also has a permanent stall at the Shanghai Shadow Market.

History[]

In the 1700s, blood transfusions started to become popular; leading Peng Fang to start his own business as a blood sommelier at the Paris Shadow Market. It is during this time that he met and befriended Magnus Bane.

In 2007, Magnus and Alec Lightwood visited him at his stall to make inquiries about the Crimson Hand. First, Peng Fang was flirty with Magnus and was open for business but when he took notice of Alec he became hostile and wanted them both gone as he didn't trust any Shadowhunters. Still, he accidentally revealed that the leader of the Crimson Hand was supposed to be male which ended up being helpful to them.[1]

In 2010, Alec and Magnus visited his stall again, this time in the Shanghai Shadow Market. Peng Fang had kept a cardboard cutout of Alec with a goblet of blood in his hand outside his stall, as Alec was a hero of the war and founder of the Downworlder-Shadowhunter Alliance, he brought popularity. Contrary to the last time he met Alec, he was excited to see him and friendly to him. The pair, however, got straight to business and asked what he knew about the Portals malfunctioning; to which he said they were happening all over the world and could be the work of Sammael. He also confided that Ragnor Fell and Shinyun Jung had been buying spell components. Before they left, he added that it would be a problem if Ragnor and Shinyun had the Book of the White.[2]

Physical description[]

Peng Fang has the appearance of someone in his mid-twenties with a broad and pleasant face and twinkling eyes. His tuft of black hair is dyed a violent yellow.[1]
