Paris is the capital and most populous city of France. It is situated on the Seine River in the north of the country, at the heart of the Île-de-France region.

Known history

In the 18th century, though many Downworlders still lived in Paris, it was considered the terrain of vampires.

In 1789, the royal family of France was forced to move to Paris, under surveillance. Two years later, in 1791, Count Axel von Fersen and some others planned the family's escape. Worried for Queen Marie Antoinette, Axel approached the warlock Magnus Bane, asking him to put glamour over the queen to ensure her safe escape. While Magnus managed to do so, the family was caught and sent back to Paris soon after. The same year, Marcel Saint Cloud, the head of the most powerful vampire clan in the city, drove Magnus out of Paris.[1]

It was in Paris where Tessa Gray, after her husband's death, found Magnus.[2]

In August 1989, Valentine sent three of his followers, Stephen Herondale, Céline Montclaire and Robert Lightwood, to Paris to find Dominique du Froid. There, due to Valentine's plan, they found evidence framing Lisette and Jules Montclaire of having dealings with the warlock. At the same time, Brother Zachariah was in the city searching for the lost Herondale and came across Jack Crow and Rosemary, who managed to escape him after he offered his help to the couple.[3]

In the early 1990s, Jocelyn Fairchild and Luke Graymark stayed in Paris shortly after the Uprising.[4]

In 2007, Sebastian Morgenstern, Jace Herondale, and Clary Fairchild went to and stayed in Paris.[5]
