Yes, definitely been too long. I do flick back to the CHB wiki but there is literally nothing for me to edit anymore because all the admins and rollbacks are so on top of everything! Also, whenever I go on, no one seems to be on chat - obviously, the most important thing. So I found a new series of books to become obsessed with i.e. these ones and decided to try and improve this wiki (but Redwall definitely does all the work! Haha). Apart from that, I'm just staring at all my work I have to do over the Christmas holidays - aargghhhh!
Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it) / Happy Holidays ! [I read an article that it's apparently politically incorrect to wish people MC] :)
Merry Christmas :P ! And Yeah I know Redwall from like 3 other wikis, we chat all the time. She's really awesome, anyway you need to catch us sometimes, our chat has been really active lately, also there's always something to edit, most of the pages need to be revised because in their current states they sound horrible lol.
Merry Christmas (again)! I hope you've been having a good winter break!
Maybe I'll go on CHB chat tonight, but don't hold me to that. I have a memory of a sieve sometimes.. Really? Haha, I'll take a look but I think I need to refresh, there is always constant editing being made on the CHB wiki which is usually all correct! Did you ever see the Sea of Monsters movie?
I'm SO sorry that I haven't edited in ages when I said I was gonna be more active.
In the first week of August, a big family thing came up so it was a bit of a blur. Then I went on holiday for two weeks and I've just got back, but I took my laptop with me but, of course, I managed to forget my charger so my laptop died on the 2nd day! And then on the last day of the holiday my phone was stolen, and so I've had to change all my passwords, cancel my SIM etc etc. So yeah, my life is a mess at the moment, but I will start editing this evening after I've seen THE MOVIE! Ahh, I'm very excited! :D
Hiya Hmeig. Just noticed your message on an anon's wall. Just dropping by to clear it up: The anon's edit was quite right. In the case of characters, yes, the series titles go under the top heading, but in these other elements, no need to include History as a heading. Although, if there are info from its past available, then it will be included but not as the top heading anymore. The History section would then be separate from the series headings, so only 2 of these = for History and the series titles. Each = signifies like a level for the headings.. so the more equal signs, the lower it is beneath the one above it.
3 === means its a subheading under a heading (==), so we'd need a top heading.
Biography is the top heading for all the characters. History, I suppose, is its substitute for articles of non-characters. Do you have a suggestion? For a different top heading for other elements? Or maybe we can go with
^Top heading. 2== Blah blah details about the topic of article's history.
If you think that's better.
Yeah, which is why I'm really trying to edit the guidelines now. I know it's getting confusing for lots of people. By the way, remember when I told you that we're going to replace the series and book titles soon with brief descriptions of certain milestones in the series? We should really start working on that soon. :P Have you ever been on the Harry Potter wiki? The character pages there are good examples..
Okay, thank you! I think that it's much clearer now. Otherwise it's just confusing (for me - the idiot)!
Yeah, I like the way the Harry Potter wiki is set out. However, I do think that it would be hard to make the 'milestone headings' when TMI hasn't ended yet. At the moment, I think that it would be best to stick with the book titles until Heavenly Fire is released? And also, because then we might have a proper name for the war against Sebastian and other things.
Sorry for being AWOL this past week, my exams are finally over! But it means I have more stress as my school is making me take part in the 6th form musical of Oliver! :s
Yeah, sorry. Haha, I don't really remember just how I got the hang of Wikia. My time at CHB wiki, I believe. Lol
True. I think I wrote it somewhere there that the milestone headings will be done once the particular series is over, so that's a yes about the after CoHF part. :D And I haven't actually read CP2 yet (dang it) so once I read it, I'l try to work on Tessa's page, then you show it to you guys before I make the final edit.
Also, once a particular series is complete, the Biography format will no longer contain the book titles. Instead, we will use identical brief descriptions or titles for particular highlights or milestones in the characters' life, for all the characters in the particular series.
So when a series is done, the subheadings (the ones containing the series and book titles) under Biography will be replaced with titles, but these headings are still to be decided, so the titles for now :)
The life information on characters with lots of available info will all go under the Biography heading, unless the info is insufficient then we won't put headings :)
Hi Hmeig. I've noticed that you've been editing a couple of pages with no headings and adding them. May I direct you towards the Sample Character Article this time. It's meant to serve as a guide. Thanks for all the help Hmeig :)
I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to (sorry for being stupid - haha) but I think that it's fine if their maiden name is under the title 'Alias'. And I do think that we should keep their maiden names in the articles and general biographies.
I do mean we should keep the Maiden names. I was referring to the format.
Amatis Herondale (née Graymark) - this in the article
Amatis Graymark-Herondale - then this in the infoboxes?
I don't remember which page exactly I have seen that format before, i just remember seeing it somewhere. I think it's pretty okay, since that's actually what I'm used to around here, but since we've started with née, the change might be weird. I might put it to a vote soon, but what do you think?
Oh, I saw that on Jocelyn's infobox: Jocelyn Fairchild-Morgenstern. However, for her, I think that this is accurate considering she hasn't married Luke yet and the Silent Brothers and Iron Sisters still refer to her as that.
I'm not sure... If it was me, I'd change the infobox to Amatis Herondale. But I'm not sure, maybe you should ask for other people's opinions.
Hiya Hmeig. Since you've been helping out lately, I'd like to direct your attention to the Category Guidelines. On there is the order for the categories. Not that it's that important, it just makes for better organization. It just seems neater and more consistent.
Now, this isn't me telling you off or anything, I swear, this is just me wanting to point it out cuz I would like to have somebody helping me out with it, too, and since you're one of the few consistent editors here who actually seem like they would bother even scanning it and understanding why we need the rules (particularly since you've als been on CHB wiki, one of the wikis I borrowed rules from, but not this category rule lol). So yeah, thanks :D
Yeah, sorry, I was away all last week on a French Exchange and now I have a camping expedition this week, starting tomorrow at 6 in the morning! :(
Also, I created the Beth Israel Hospital page, but I noticed that there were no categories for 'City of Ashes places' etc. So I was wondering if I was allowed to create them, but I know that you were recently trying to clear up the categories. (I have read the guidelines just now so maybe I missed it!)
Yes, but well, sometimes, especially on small screens, some people can't help it. A bunch of my other friends, sometimes even me, get annoyed when we end up touching the heading links after a long time of scrolling, then when we go back to the previous page, everything has been collapsed again.
