Martin Wentworth is a Shadowhunter and member of the London Enclave in the early 1900s. He is the father of Piers and Rosamund Wentworth.
Biography[]
In 1903, Martin attended a London Enclave meeting at the London Institute called by Charles Fairchild to discuss the recent demon attacks. After Charles announced that the Clave was putting the city into quarantine, Martin became enraged and began shouting about needing the Clave's assistance before Will Herondale cut him off. Martin remained silent and white-faced as Charles continued to explain about the deadly poison that was being spread and why quarantine was necessary, thinking of his own son, Piers, who was currently afflicted by it.[1]
In December 1903, Martin visited the Consul's house to play chess with Henry Branwell. Their match was interrupted by Charles, who wished to discuss France Downworlder politics. According to Matthew Fairchild, Martin looked a bit desperate to get out of the conversation, possibly hoping for Christopher Lightwood to cause an explosion.
A few weeks later, he hosted his daughter Rosamund and Thoby Baybrook's engagement party at their family home. He was seen admiring Rosamund and Thoby's ice sculpture, which had been the reason why the engagement had not been cancelled in the light of the recent murder of Amos Gladstone.
He potentially took part in the battle against Leviathan at the Institute; after which he had assembled with the other Shadowhunters for an Enclave meeting. When James Herondale revealed how Tatiana Blackthorn had preserved her son's body, making it the perfect vessel for a demon to possess and use to murder Shadowhunters in an attempt to raise Leviathan, Martin was upset that she had been shown mercy and demanded she be interrogated, as he did not believe she had no knowledge of the situation.[2]
