SPOILER WARNING: Plot details follow. Caution is advised!

Malcolm's convergence is a ley line convergence site that the warlock Malcolm Fade used as a headquarters.

Description[]

Malcolm opened a door and path, creating a cave in the hill that was situated over the convergence, in the Santa Monica mountains along the Los Angeles coastline. Being a convergence, Malcolm made it possible to grow atropa belladonna on the field around the cave as if they were in Cornwall.

Within the cave was a circular chamber lined with bronze walls covered with a mixture of languages—specifically, some of the lines written on the cave walls were of the poem Annabel Lee. Set into the walls were two large portholes that opened deep underwater. On the black stone floor was a circle of symbols drawn with chalk which used for his rituals.

The convergence was guarded by Mantid demons and remained sealed off during the day when the demons were inactive.

On the night of Malcolm's supposed final sacrifice, Malcolm revamped the cave's interior appearance.[1]

History[]

At one point, Malcolm established himself in the convergence cave, moving Annabel Blackthorn's corpse from Cornwall to a tomb within the convergence's tunnels.

In 2012, he began using it as a headquarters to perform pieces of the resurrection ritual for Annabel with help from the so-called Followers of the Guardian. For their service, the Follower who submitted the most recent sacrifice, successfully completing their task for the Lottery, would be Portaled to the convergence, where their murdering hand is cut; this was under the pretense that the chosen murderer would be "blessed with good luck".

Mark Blackthorn and Emma Carstairs investigated the convergence in August 2012 and found the cave, as well as a wallet belonging to the latest victim, Stanley Wells. When they made their way out of the cave, the Mantids guarding it attacked them. Some time later, Emma traveled to the convergence alone and was sucked through one of the portholes, winding up deep below the sea.

When Malcolm kidnapped Tavvy Blackthorn to use him for his ritual, the Blackthorns, along with some others, went to the convergence and fought him to rescue Tavvy. Malcolm was then stabbed and sucked through one of the portholes himself. The porthole was left open and seawater poured through, flooding the cave. In addition to it being flooded, Malcolm's enchantments on the caves and tunnels he created failed upon his death and caved in.[1]

Soon afterwards, the Clave formally investigated the convergence and picked it over. Arthur Blackthorn traveled to the ruins of the cave some time after to confront Malcolm.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Though the cave has been destroyed, Kieran suspected that there may be another entrance into the space through some other convergence.
