The Legion of the Star, also known as the Fallen Star, was a group of people loyal to Sebastian Morgenstern, in Thule.

History

Formation

In 2007, in the parallel dimension of Thule, Sebastian Morgenstern won the Battle of the Burren after his mother, the demon Lilith, murdered Clary Fairchild. Sebastian’s great victory was the turning point in history that eventually led to him ruling the world.

After a few months of war and hostile takeovers, Sebastian won, having turned many Shadowhunters into Endarkened and many Downworlders and mundanes into submission, forcing others into hiding.

Sebastian's Legion of the Star was then created and among its members were vampires, werewolves, all the Endarkened and the Forsworn - half the remaining mundanes in the world, including former Shadowhunters.

The members of the Legion had many roles, such as torturers, as is the case of Annabel Blackthorn, or being in charge of controlling Institutes in Sebastian’s name, which was assigned to those of greater rank, like the Ashdown family in the Los Angeles Institute.

There were, however, residents of Thule who refused to swear allegiance to Sebastian and formed resistances against the Legion of the Star all over the world. The closest to him was a rebellion in Los Angeles, named the Bradbury rebels, that grew over the years, with Livia Blackthorn being among those in charge and Cameron Ashdown working as a double agent loyal to the rebels.

Wanting to control those remaining Nephilim, Sebastian tried for years to gather together the Mortal Instruments, that had been sealed by the Silent Brothers in the Silent City.

Downfall

In 2014, when he was close to figuring out a way to break inside the City, two Shadowhunters from another dimension arrived in Thule, Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn. They helped the Bradbury rebels find the Last Warlock, Tessa Gray, and had her open the Silent City for them. The rebels were, however, ambushed by Sebastian's army that had known about their plans in advance and was lying in wait.

During the confrontation that followed, Emma, being from another world and, as such, outside of the invulnerability to Thule warriors granted to Sebastian by Lilith, was able to kill him with the Mortal Sword. Sebastian's death resulted in the destruction of his Endarkened army and most likely the end of the Legion.[1]
