Kelpies are a type of water faerie.
Description[]
Kelpies seem to have a similar body composition as horses — having a mane, tail, and 4 legs ending in hooves. However, they are a dark green color and with hair reminiscent of seaweed. They have sharp, needle-like glass teeth and their eyes are deep black with no whites.
A kelpie will be forced to obey and treat anyone who manages to put a bridle over them like their master.[1]
History[]
In 2012, Dane Larkspear managed to bridle a kelpie named Jarog the Enraged and used it to track Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn in Faerie. After hearing Dane outline the Cohort's plan to have them killed, Julian freed Jarog of its bridle and killed Dane. Jarog returned to eat Dane's dead body and promised to repay Julian for his kindness.
About a week later at the Cohort's parley he was at the battle. When Julian's Seraph blade proved useless against Sabnock's sibling, Jarog intervened; slamming his hoof into its chest and then chased the Eidolon demon away.[1]

- At some point before the 1900s, Jarog apparently stole Pickles's place as the heir to the kelpie throne, thus resulting in Pickles developing a drinking habit.[2]
