Hyacinth is a faerie, whose pseudonym is of the flower with the same color as her pale blue skin.
History[]
The faerie knew the young Adele Starkweather, who called her "Hyacinth". Being a faerie, she was presumably aware of Axel Mortmain and the faeries' plot to steal the child and switch her with the sickly mundane child Elizabeth, as revenge for the York Institute raids that killed faeries as trophies.
Decades after, Hyacinth met Adele's daughter, Tessa, at Benedict Lightwood's ball. She saw through Tessa's disguise and told her about changelings, implying heavily though not directly admitting that her mother was in fact one.[1]
Roughly 25 years later, Hyacinth served Hypatia Vex at her salon: the Hell Ruelle. There she met and had a fling with Anna Lightwood.[2]
In 2007, Hyacinth worked as a party planner for Malcolm Fade. Under his advisement, they threw a large Downworlder party in Venice to celebrate the end of the Mortal War and their victory over Valentine Morgenstern. Before the fight broke out between Barnabas Hale and Malcolm, which caused the building to come crashing down, she was seen dancing with Magnus Bane and using his magic as a ribbon.[3]
By 2012, Hyacinth is a known fortune-teller with a booth at the Shadow Market in Los Angeles and is acquainted with Johnny and Kit Rook.[4] Following Malcolm Fade's death, Kit brought Julian Blackthorn to her booth to ask for a potion to temporarily cure faerie madness in a Shadowhunter. Hyacinth denied to work with him as she did not wish to anger the Courts or the Clave because of the Cold Peace, and recommended he speak with a warlock before advising them both to leave as neither were safe at the Market now.[5]
