Huang is one of the glass dragons whose purpose is to guard the Celestial Palace. Huang and Di are located at each side of the double doors leading to the bookstore.
History[]
Huang has apparently been guarding the Celestial Palace since it was built. Huang and Di's main purpose is to prevent shoplifters. When a shoplifter leaves the building, one of the dragons will shoot him down with a ray of light, cursing them for eternity and seemingly making them disappear from the mundane world.[1]
Physical description[]
Huang is made of glass that is painted with mercury and has eyes made of sea pearls.[1]

- Magnus Bane had previously encountered the dragon as he appeared to know him.[1]
- Together, Huang and Di's names—Huangdi—reference the Yellow Emperor of China or 黄帝. When cursing one particular faerie from stealing a book, Huang mentions that they "will never escape the eyes of the Huangdi."[1]
