The Gatekeeper of the Los Angeles Shadow Market is a phouka who guards the Los Angeles Shadow Market entrance.
History[]
In 2012, Kit Herondale and Ty Blackthorn petition for entrance at the gates of the Los Angeles Shadow Market. The Gatekeeper initially teased Kit by asking for the password but, after Kit's refusal, went to get Barnabas Hale.
Kit refused to give the password to Barnabas too, offering him one of his father's prized possessions instead—a ruby-encrusted copy of the Red Scrolls of Magic. Barnabas laughed saying he had already found it when they dug up Johnny Rook's stall after he died. Again he told them to leave but also left Kit with the warning to "get out of Downworld before someone kills him."
The Gatekeeper told Kit he should've just given the password from the start. Kit frustrated gave him the finger and then left.[1]
Physical description[]
The Gatekeeper is tall, dark, and thin with long hair woven with bronze and gold strands. He wears purple trousers and doesn't wear shoes.[1]
