Gan Jiang is one of the greatest known faerie weaponsmith in Shanghai. He is the husband of Mo Ye and father of Jinfeng.
Biography[]
Gan Jiang and his wife have been alive for many hundreds of years; "marrying" before the "sea was salt". They claim to have been in the area of China prior to Shanghai being founded. According to Ke Yun, they knew well of Yanluo and his brood's attack against China.
At some point, they had a daughter, Jinfeng. Some years later she met and began dating a Shadowhunter of the Shanghai Institute. Though it was against the laws of the Cold Peace, Gan and his wife supported Jinfeng in her relationship with Ke Yi Tian.
In September 2010, upon hearing of Magnus Bane being stabbed with the Svefnthorn, they ordered him and his friends to come to their shop immediately. Once there, they gave him and Alec Black and White Impermanence—gods whom they claim to have personally turned into swords well over a century before. They claimed them to be keys and that they would help the group get into and out of Diyu. They then quickly hurried them out the door so they could have supper.[1]

- Though they like Tian and trust him, they do not really trust other Shadowhunters.[1]
- Gan Jiang and Mo Ye claimed to have had their own Svefnthorn at one time. Though Mo believed it to still be in the back of their shop, Gan denied it saying he had lost it long before Shanghai was even built.[1]
