Emil Pangborn was one of the members of the Circle who remained loyal to Valentine Morgenstern.
Biography
Aiding Valentine in his hunt for the Mortal Cup, Pangborn and Samuel Blackwell went to the home of Jocelyn Fray in New York. The encounter led in a fight, while Blackwell went on to trash the apartment in search of the Cup. At one point, Jocelyn got away from him long enough to drink a potion that put her in a coma-like state, much to his chagrin.
They then proceed to give the former Circle member Turned werewolf Luke Garroway a visit, drilling him about the Cup and taunting him into Turning, to no avail. During the interrogation, they were seen by Jace Wayland and Clary Fray. When Clary accidentally revealed herself while in hiding, Jace distracted them and engaged them in battle before the pair fled. Pangborn chased after Jace and was locked into Luke's bunker.
Days after their last visit, Pangborn, Blackwell, and Valentine finally raided the New York Institute. When the residents of the Institute and the werewolves under Luke arrived and fought Valentine's demons, Valentine ordered the two to find them. He and Blackwell split up, with Pangborn taking the basement level because Blackwell was unnerved by it. Pangborn was quick to find Luke and continued his taunting of Luke and his being a werewolf. Luke reminded him of his prior provocations of Luke to Change into a wolf, which Pangborn agreed that he still wanted to see. Luke did so partially and brutally bit into Pangborn's neck, knocking him out and possibly killing him.[1]
