Aidan Turner is an Irish actor. He portrayed Luke Garroway in the film adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.


Aidan Turner was born on June 19, 1983 in Clondalkin, Dublin, Ireland and grew up in Tallaght, South Dublin, Ireland. After graduating from The Gaiety School of Acting in 2004, Aidan appeared in a number of theatre productions, including The Plough & the Stars, A Cry from Heaven, Romeo & Juliet, and La Marea.

Turner's television and film acting career began in 2007, with a guest appearance on The Tudors and a role in two short films, The Sound of People and Matterhorn. Turner has since added several roles to his filmography, including Dante Gabriel Rossetti on Desperate Romantics, a recurring role as Ruairí McGowan on The Clinic, Mal in the 2008 thriller feature film Alarm, Ross Poldark in the 2015 revival of the BBC series Poldark, and many more.

He has become well known for his roles as Kíli in the three-part fantasy film The Hobbit and John Mitchell in the supernatural drama series Being Human.


Aidan's casting as Luke was announced by Cassandra Clare through her Tumblr page on July 30, 2012.
