Clarissa "Clary" Fairchild was a Shadowhunter, famously known as the daughter of Jocelyn Fray and Valentine Morgenstern, sister of Sebastian Morgenstern, the girlfriend of Jace Herondale, and was one of the heroes of the Mortal War.

In October 2007 at the Seventh Sacred Site, Clary witnessed Sebastian summoned Lilith for her blood for the Infernal Cup. Having informed their allies through Simon about the gathering at the site, reinforcements soon arrived. Simon handed Clary Glorious so she could reach either Sebastian or Jace with it. On her way to Jace, however, she was intercepted by Lilith, who had been empowered by another demon after being summoned. Lilith cast the sword into Hell and went on to kill her.
Clary's death, and thus her inability to free Jace from Sebastian's thrall, was a considerable tipping point; Sebastian and his Endarkened army emerged victorious, forcing the Shadowhunters and Downworlders to flee, and Jace remained bound and blindly loyal to him.[2]
Dreams[]
Around the time when the Unseelie King of an alternate world opened a Portal between their worlds, the Clary of that world began having dreams of Thule and of her death in that world, leading her to believe that she herself was going to die.[3] It would be around six months later before she realized that the dreams were of another Clary.[2]
