Chimeras are symbiotic demons.
Description[]
Chimera demons are piglet-sized and wormlike. They have long, spidery legs, and feelers. With the exception of a pair of flashing green eyes, they are nearly featureless and have gray skin. They are symbiotic, thus they need to possess a body in order to come into their full power. They are easy to defeat on their own.[1]
History[]
An army of chimera demons was sent by Belial to possess a group of Iron Sisters and Silent Brothers whose souls had left their bodies and were laid to rest in the Iron Tombs, which was sealed with a key inside the Adamant Citadel. Tatiana Blackthorn stole the key after the Clave sent her there as punishment for her crimes. By opening the tombs, the demons inhabited the bodies—becoming known as Watchers, and invaded the Silent City and London, which had fallen under Belial's control. The London Shadowhunters were at a disadvantage since the Watchers they attacked did not die, but rather recovered quickly from their injuries. Eventually, Thomas Lightwood and Alastair Carstairs realized the demons could be expelled from the bodies by destroying the demonic runes on the backs of their necks. While Belial readied for his coronation as king of London, the Watchers were dispatched to guard Westminster Abbey, where they battled the reinforcing Shadowhunters. When Lucie Herondale contacted the Iron Sisters' and Silent Brothers' souls for help, the souls forced the demons out of their bodies. The demons attempted to charge into the abbey to attack Cordelia Carstairs, but were quickly dispatched.[1]
