Cecaelia are slimy, humanoid demons.
History[]
In 2007, the chief financial officer and vice president of marketing for Sigblad Enterprises hired the High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane, to invoke a demon who could curse the mermaids of the East River and not be very friendly with the people who participated in the Exclusive city walks that the company provided for wealthy mundanes who wanted to see the World of Shadows.
Magnus invoked a cecaelia demon named Elyaas, but when the client, Caroline Connor, tells Elyaas of his task, Magnus realized that he himself could do that, deeming the demon useless. Hence, Magnus banishes him.[1]
At some point, the same Cecaelia, Elyaas, began working in the hell dimension of Diyu in the First Court. He received his first souls to torment in 2010—Magnus, Alec, and their friends—and let them go on Alec's promise to tell the other demons that he did the full process.[2]
In 2012, Elyaas was among the demons summoned by Magnus for his son Max's temptation lessons.[3]
Description[]
Cecaelia demons resemble blobs with somewhat human heads, except they possess close-set eyes and a triangular slit that serves as a mouth and nose. Their torsos are short and thin with no arms, and their lower halves end in a mass of thick and short tentacles. Cecaelia also produce copious amounts of green and black slime that completely covers their bodies and interferes with their speech. They have sharp, slime-stained teeth and flickering green tongues that ends in a thick point.[1]
