Catherine Townsend is a young Shadowhunter in London during the early 1900s.
Biography[]
At some point, Augustus Pounceby proposed to Catherine—though he had led Eugenia Lightwood to believe they had an understanding—and she rejected him.[2]
At the party thrown at the London Institute to welcome the Carstairs family in 1903, Lucie Herondale introduced Cordelia Carstairs to Catherine and her friends, Ari Bridgestock and Rosamund Wentworth. When Ari complimented her dress, Cordelia tried to impress them with details; to which Catherine replied that Shadowhunters weren't meant to have an interest in fashion as it was mundane. Ari, in an attempt to defend Cordelia, implied that Catherine was being a hypocrite as she often comments on Matthew Fairchild's clothing. Before she could respond, Matthew and James Herondale entered the room and the topic quickly changed to their attractiveness. Catherine was particularly fawning over James and discussing Matthew's scandalous reputation. As the girls waited to be asked to dance, Catherine began whispering to the others about Cordelia's father.
The following day she attended the younger set's picnic at Regent's Park. There she took a stroll by the lake with her friends and later was seen skillfully sailing a small boat before they were ambushed by demons.[3]
In December 1903, she attended Rosamund Wentworth and Thoby Baybrook's engagement party, where she was seen dancing with Augustus.
Catherine took part in the battle against Leviathan and was moderately injured. Afterward, she assembled with the other Shadowhunters for the Enclave meeting.[2]
