The Blackthorn family locket is a gold locket with a wreath of thorns etched into the surface. In modern times, the necklace now has a design of crossed sabers on the back.
History[]
In 1896, Tatiana Blackthorn used the locket to capture her son Jesse Blackthorn's last breath. She hoped one day it could be used to bring him back to life and placed it around his throat after he died. His ghost form has since appeared with it on.
In 1903, Jesse gave his locket to Lucie Herondale so that she could use the last breath inside it to save her brother's life. Lucie then kept the locket and began wearing it—with its design facing in.[1]
In 2010, Julian Blackthorn had the back of the locket engraved with a pair of crossing sabers—to signify his sister Livvy Blackthorn's favorite weapon—as a gift for her 13th birthday. Livvy began wearing the locket since and was wearing it the day she died. At her funeral, Ty Blackthorn climbed her pyre to retrieve it so that he may use the locket—now encrusted with her blood—to resurrect her. After the spell failed, Ty continued to wear it; though Livvy's spirit still shows it around her neck as well.[2]
