Basil Pounceby was a Shadowhunter in Edwardian London and the father of Augustus Pounceby.
Biography
At some point, Basil met and married his wife, Eunice Pounceby. They later had a child together that they named Augustus.
In December 1903, after his patrol, he was attacked by the Prince of Hell Belial in Jesse Blackthorn's body. Belial stabbed him several times as he screamed with an adamas blade until he died. Belial then used a pithos to steal his Swiftness rune.
Later that morning, the Enclave noticed he was missing and Charles Fairchild deployed a search party to find him. Charles was there when he was found and because of all the stab wounds, they determined that it was not a demon attack, but rather there was a murderer killing Shadowhunters. It was then believed the Amos Gladstone, who had died a few days prior, was killed by the same being rather than a random demon as previously thought.[1]
