The asuras are a form of demon known among mundanes through its appearance in Hindu mythology.[1][2]

Trivia[]

  • Sanskrit professor Monier-Williams traced the etymological roots of the word Asura (असुर) to Asu (असु), which means departed spirits. In later verses of the Samhita layer of Vedic texts, Monier-Williams states the Asuras are "evil spirits, demons and opponents of the gods". Asuras connote the chaos-creating evil in Aryan mythology about the battle between good and evil.[3]
